{ABOUT CRISTIN RYAN, SLP}

Hi, I’m Cristin Ryan and I have been a practicing Speech Pathologist for 19 years now!  Originally, I’m from Texas, but have lived here in Colorado with my loving and supportive husband and two wonderful children since I graduated with my masters in Communication Disorders.  I am licensed in the State of Colorado and I am certified through our national organization—ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association)—as a Speech Pathologist.

I predominantly work with children birth through Elementary school with a variety of speech and language needs.  Some areas I work in include articulation, language delays and disorders, early childhood, Autism, Down Syndrome, and feeding difficulties.  I am trained in the SOS approach to feeding, The Hanen program, and PECS. It’s important for me to continue growing and learning as a Speech Pathologist, which is why I regularly attend national conferences in my field to keep up to date on the latest methods and breakthroughs.

Helping children unlock their communication potential is my passion and I find that the therapy is most successful in the fun and positive environment, which I endeavor to create.  I am upbeat and positive, but also work hard to make progress and meet goals!  I see most of my clients in their homes where they feel comfortable, and it gives me the opportunity to communicate weekly with their parents to work as a team towards success. To help more children, I have expanded my practice to include seeing clients in their school setting.  This means that I can help them succeed in school, working along side their teachers to meet their communication and educational goals.

My Education and Work Experience

I attended Texas Christian University (Go Frogs!) where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders and a minor in Psychology.  I also attended the University of Texas Callier Center where I earned my Master of Science degree in Communication Disorders.

I have worked with children from birth through Middle School in a variety

of settings for the last 19 years.  One setting was In-home therapy with young children (birth through 3) as an early intervention speech pathologist.  I also worked in an outpatient feeding clinic here in the Denver area under the creator of the SOS Approach to Feeding, Kay Toomey.  Another setting included working with preschool age children in Cherry Creek School District and middle school students in Littleton Public Schools.  For many Summers, I would take some time off of my current job to work at Adam’s Camp, which was a camp for kids with disabilities, to work on their skills in the beautiful Rocky Mountains.  Throughout my career, I always saw some kids privately in the evenings, and decided to launch my company, Cristin Ryan, SLP, in 2011.
